This digital database comprises data recorded from the hydrophone during the GNDT 1 project. The hydrophone was installed on the frame of the GEOSTAR deep-sea multidisciplinary observatory, deployed offshore of the Eastern coast of Sicily (Southern Italy) at a depth of 2071 m.The sensor was connected to a 24 bit digitizer, and its time reference came from an external rubidium clock connected to the digitizer, and synchronized with the seismometer.
As this site is of great interest given its proximity to the Etna volcano (~ 50 km) and to important offshore seismogenic structures, the main purpose of the hydrophone is to record seismic data in combination with the seismometer.
