Citation: Giambenedetti, Beatrice. (2007). Turbidity meter dataset (ECO-BB(RT)D 6000m @ 1 sample / hour) from INGV/GEOSTAR seafloor platform during NEAREST project in Iberian Margin site (Gulf of Cadiz), part of EMSO network.

Abstract: Turbidity measurements were provided by means of an auxiliary turbidity meter sensor (made by WetLabs manufacturer) connected to the CTD probe. The collection period ranges from August 2007 through July 2008.

Purpose: CTD and turbidity meter have been used in order to monitoring possible variations of bottom sea water masses in an area strongly interested by the mixing of different water masses (Mediterranean and Atlantic waters). Turbidity measurement also provides information about possible resuspension of particle matter due to bottom currents.

Quality of data: The QC version of the datasets has been elaborated verifying sensor efficiency through post-calibration and standardized validation procedures. More information about QC procedures are contained in the download file
